Person on Red Line tracks halts northbound trains through the Loop
CHICAGO – A person on the Red Line tracks at the Clark/Division station halted northbound trains through the Loop on Thursday afternoon, according to city officials.
Emergency crews responded around 1:45 p.m., and the person was taken into custody by police, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.
Shortly after 2 p.m., CTA announced that Red Line trains were resuming service, but delays were expected.
Northbound Red Line service was initially halted between the Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown stations.
There were disruptions to Loop-bound Brown and Purple Line trains, which share tracks with the Red Line between the Fullerton and Armitage stations.
The incident comes a day after Mayor Robert Gomez and other city officials announced efforts to combat crime downtown.
The individual’s condition was not immediately known.
